A couple of Saturdays ago, we were able to volunteer for the City of Mesa with the Youth our our stake. We gathered at the stake center, sang "Called to Serve" and hit the streets. As you can see were were donned on the finest attire of the famous "Mormon Helping Hands Vests". It was an awesome sight to see these youth and their leaders invading a neighborhood in Mesa all dressed in these vests, ready to serve and do as they were asked to do.
We painted house numbers on curbs, took surveys of homeowners for the city on how to improve the community, and passed out flyers. What a great way to be involved in the community. One of the firefighters explained it to the youth that they were not just there to do a job that day, but they were "saving lives". By painting the house numbers on the curb, it makes response time much faster in an emergency situation thus possibly saving a life. Our thanks to our Stake Leaders who made this all possible for us. Unfortunately, I was not with our group and did not get any pictures of us actually doing the work.... but they did..... I did however capture these photos in our vests!
