Teach a Boy to Fish....

Ray often uses the phrase..."Give a man a fish, and he eats for a day, Teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime". I don't know who is teaching who here... but I think this phrase is applicable.

Ryan is our "go to" man around the house. If something needs fixed, we always ask Ryan first. The toilet is overflowing, go get Ryan. The sprinklers are broken, go get Ryan. The pool vac isn't working, go tell Ryan. The washer won't start, go get Ryan. Just the other day, I was making homemade ice cream and it was not working, it had been churning for 2 hours and it was still soup. I asked Ray to help, he was clueless, so when Ryan came home from work, he took one look at the ice cream maker and diagnosed the problem. He was totally right. He has that logical thinking mind, and can just figure things out.

He is also a big penny pincher. We joke that his wife will have to beg for money to buy the children milk. The oil in his car was needing changed and Ray had not taken it in to Jiffy Lube to have it done. Ryan proposes..... I could do that and it won't hardly cost much, so dad, can you teach me? Oh dear, at this point I am thinking we are in big trouble.... But 4 trips to Wal-Mart later, a slight spill on the driveway, the oil is changed and next time, Ryan says he needs no help or supervision.
