An AMAZING RACE!

Girls Camp.....You know, you dread going, the packing, leaving your nice cozy bed, 5 days away, i'm not a big camper but.....

Once I get to girls camp, it really isn't that bad.... It is so fun to be with the girls and the other leaders. When I first started serving in Young Women's 28 years ago (yes, don't even try to do the math), someone told me that one week of camp, is worth a years worth of Sunday lessons as far as getting to know the girls... Man is that true! I LOVE these girls and we had so much fun together...

Our theme this year was "The Amazing Race: Destination, Eternal Life" Well, since I am a big Amazing Race TV Show fan, I was all about the theme! Our life truly is a journey with many challenges tossed in here and there. It is all about how we meet the challenge, and our attitude. We can do it! We can accomplish great things in this Amazing Race!

Here are just a few of the not so amazing things about camp....
The Bugs -- big ones, little ones, long legged spiders, flying ones, crawling ones...ewwww
Skunks -- yes, we had a visitor right on our porch. Thankfully the screaming girls did not cause him to "do his thing"
The ONE shower we could have for the 5 days at camp... (i cheated and snuck an extra in, but still)
The plastic covered mattresses and squeaky bunkbeds that we slept in....

and YES.... The AMAZING things far outweighed the not so amazing!
the fun chats we had with the girls!
How the leaders laughed so hard we almost wet out pants! We had more fun that the girls, I think!
The FOOD!!!! We felt like we were on a cruise ship the food was soooo good!
The great activities... zip line, canoeing, flying squirrel, team building games, rapelling!
The evening programs -- so fun, so sprititual!
The testimony meeting -- all of our girls bore their testimonies and you could fee the spirit so strongly!
Having church out in the woods!!!!
The WEATHER!!! It was so nice! It was even a bit cold a couple of nights!

I didn't get too many pics.... but thanks to Shannon and Diana who documented it all so well! It was a wonderful 5 days, and you really hated to leave that spirit that you constantly felt. If I didn't need a shower so terrible bad and want to get home for a nap, I maybe could have stayed an extra day!

wow, girls camp has come a long way since i went with you!!! the all time best was locking you in your cabin by tying the door knob to the railing though, can't beat it!
