Saturday was the City Swim Meet. All of the City of Mesa High Schools gather to compete. There is also a Pentathlon. Ryan was chosen again this year to be a pentathlete. Coaches choose the pentathletes. They are usually an all around good swimmer as they compete only against the other pentathletes and earn extra points for the team. Each team can have 4 pentathletes. A pentathlete swims 100 yards each of butterfly, backstroke, freestyle and breaststroke, plus a 200 IM. Ryan is a backstroker and also usually swims the IM so he is fairly proficient in all strokes. He came out of no where though on the 100 free blasting 10 seconds off of his time. This is what put him over the top and he took 6th place in the city in the pentathlon. He was 1st in backstroke which racked up some points as well.
It was a fun day. He got a big trophy, a super nice towel, and a ribbon. Way to go Ryan!
