Winding Down

It is hard to believe that this school year is winding down. Each year seems to escalate and time seems to pass far too quickly. Concerts, plays, and performances of all sorts seem to fill our evenings these days. This year, Mary was in La Camarata -- the highest choir at Red Mountain High School. Last year, she joined choir to fill a hole in her schedule thinking that she would just play the piano for them to sing. After singing, she realized how much she loves music as well as singing. She is involved with a great group of young people and the sound that they produce is unbelievable! They recently returned from a Choir tour in California where they recorded, performed, attended workshops, went to the beach, and went to Disneyland. (What trip to CA is not complete without a run through Disnelyand)

At the end of this concert this week, her teacher called any RMHS Alumni up from the audience who know the Alma mater song to join them in singing it at the end. It was very moving and I realize that one short year, and Mary will be graduating. Since she has a late birthday a large number of her close friends are graduating this year. Wow! Where has the time gone? It seems like I was just dropping her of at kindergarten with a tear rolling down my face. And once again, the tears are near the surface as the last year of the journey begins.
